Put Out: Ricciardo’s Car Wing Will Have Nightmares

In Monza, only one of the AphaTauri riders could earn points: Pierre Gasly finished 8th, before admitting that one could hardly count on more.

Pierre Gasly (8th): “We finished behind the top three teams, and this is the maximum we could count on. I’m glad we managed to earn points again.

In general, we were a bit upset with the results of the race. I think I’m going to have nightmares about the rear wing of Ricciardo’s car for the next few nights. Which we just failed to do in an attempt to get ahead of his car, despite the fact that our speed was generally at a good level. However, it was still not enough to beat McLaren.

Now let’s prepare for Singapore. We know what needs to be worked on, what we need to do to achieve better results. Our goal is to keep earning points.”

Yuki Tsunoda (14th): “When you start from the last row, the race is not easy, but I think I started well and was able to make a few overtakes. But I had problems with the pace on the hard tires so we need to understand the reasons for this and try to increase it in preparation for the upcoming races.

Franz ToastTeam Principal: “The fans gathered to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the historic circuit in Monza didn’t deserve such an end to today’s race as it would be so great if everyone could see the battle in the final laps.

Unfortunately Ricciardo stopped on the track at the very end of the Grand Prix and according to the regulations we had to finish the race before the safety car.

When we talk about our team, everything went relatively well. Pierre started fifth and finished eighth, but when he was riding on hard rubber he had some understeer. But overall it was the highest position that could be counted on, especially given the speed of the cars that finished in front of us.

Yuki started from the last row and it wasn’t easy to overtake, but he did a good job nonetheless. When the safety car came out, we called Tsunoda to the pits and put soft tires on his car, thinking he would have a chance with new tires – if the race started again.

Unfortunately, events developed according to a different scenario and he ended up only finishing 14th. But overall Yuki had a good weekend.

In Italy we got four points, which is not bad as we have closed the gap with Haas F1 in the Constructors’ Championship. The Singapore race is in a few weeks and we need to maintain the momentum for the rest of the season.”
