Bottas: We can do it well on any track

The Alfa Romeo team is preparing for the Miami Grand Prix and will aim to continue a string of successful performances on the new US track, as Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou managed to earn points in three of the four races that took place.

Frederic Vasseur, Team Principal: “We are delighted to be going to Miami for another race on a newly constructed track. Formula 1 is popular all over the world and we can see that our sport is in top form, judging by the size of the crowd that has gathered all the last races.

The appearance of such an event as a round in Miami on the calendar of the season will only add to the popularity of our sport, and I am sure we will have a wonderful weekend. We have a good position in the championship and the team has a confident attitude: in Imola we fought for the top places, which confirms that it is no coincidence that we have shown such form from the start of the season.

In fact, with each stage of the season we are getting better. You can enjoy the results of your work, but you cannot allow yourself to relax. There is a very intense battle throughout the pack, the results are very close, and even small changes related to the characteristics of a particular circuit or the introduction of technical innovations can lead to a noticeable change in the balance of power.

That’s why we have to keep working hard to fully exploit the machine’s potential. We know we can earn points in every race, but if we want to beat our rivals, everything has to run smoothly.”

Valtteri Bottas: “The upcoming race in Miami makes me very happy. Just spent a few days in the US meeting friends, riding a bike and just enjoying the atmosphere.

I am sure the race in Florida will give everyone an incredibly beautiful show – as we are used to in America. It looks like the track here is great, there are opportunities to overtake, so the fight promises to be interesting. I believe the authors of the autodrome project have worked hard on it – I hope we can verify this when we start working on it.

We expect the weekend in Miami to be a success for us as we’ve earned points in all the races we’ve finished so far, and this series wants to continue.

The confidence of the team is growing, we know that we can perform well on all tracks and the result depends only on us.”

Guanyu Zhou: “In Miami we have a good chance to continue our successful work on the track. The progress made makes me happy, I want to continue to grow professionally and earn points again.

In most races I finished close to the top ten, which means we are on the right track. I’m in no rush, because I know I have to keep working hard, then there will be results.

Of course the circuit in Miami is new to me, although I got to know it while working on the simulator. But it’s new for everyone and in that sense I’m on the same level as everyone else for the first time. As always, we must try to work as efficiently as possible in each session to prepare for qualifying and to fully exploit the potential of our car. I am confident that we can perform confidently this weekend.”
