The FIA confirmed the location of three independent DRS zones on the track in Miami, which are capable of a clear fight on the track. Two of them are on long straights, although they are not fully used.
The detection point of the first DRS zone is 83 places after the top of the eighth corner, if the difference between the cars in it does not exceed one second, the attacking driver can change the position of the rear wing control element 67 meters after the ninth peak.
The second DRS detection point is at the end of the second sector – 73 meters after Turn 16, but riders will not be able to activate DRS until 450 meters after the apex of this turn.
The detection point of the third DRS zone is at the end of the same straight line. If the distance between the cars is no more than one second 19 meters after Turn 17, the drivers can activate DRS when exiting the last lap of Turn 19.
