At Imola, Esteban Ocon’s run of seven scoring races in a row was interrupted, but in Miami the Frenchman hopes to earn points again…
Q: The Imola stage interrupted the streak, but otherwise the start of the season turned out to be positive for you…
Esteban Ocon: The weekend in Imola was not good for our team, there are areas where we need to improve. But the first three races were successful for me, and the fact that I didn’t earn points in Italy will be an extra motivation to fight for them in Miami.
The whole team is looking forward to this weekend. We know that if we do everything right, if we fully reveal the potential of the machine, we will get good results.
Q: The Miami race has been talked about for a long time. How did you prepare for this phase, what do you expect from it?
Esteban Ocon: Yes, the Miami race has been talked about for years. And this year, to the delight of all those associated with our sport, it will take place.
The popularity of Formula 1 in the United States has grown in recent years, Miami is an iconic city, so the weekend should be great. I look forward to getting started! Before that, I only saw Miami in the movies, but I’m a little familiar with the track and surrounding buildings. Everything looks very cool!
In preparation for the stage I worked on the simulator and discussed with the team the characteristics of driving this track. Internship on the new track is interesting because you don’t know what to expect until you’ve passed the early laps. Furthermore, the approach is no different from other race weekends.
Q: What can we expect from the team in the upcoming race?
Esteban Ocon: As I said, we will try to rehabilitate ourselves after the failure in Imola. We have brought in some new products and we hope they will solve the lack of speed problem that has arisen in Imola.
I am sure Fernando will be fast again, we will be able to fight with opponents in the middle group of teams and earn a lot of points. Let’s try to make the weekend run smoothly. For Formula 1, the stage must be great!
