Today it was confirmed that Robert Schwartzman will participate in the first free practice session in Austin. In preparation for them, he worked with last year’s car in private Ferrari testing – and now it’s ready to drive…
Robert Schwartzman: “When I realized at the end of last year that there were no vacancies in Formula 1, the best offer was to become a test driver at Ferrari. This allowed me to work on tests with the 2021 car, help the team – and keep myself in shape.
I mainly worked on the simulator with this year’s virtual machine. Tested several settings to help the team. You have to understand that the Ferrari simulator is a device of a completely different level than, say, the Prema team simulator in Formula 2, where you can only get acquainted with the track. There is nothing in common between them.
The Ferrari Simulator allows you to fine-tune the car while working closely with the engineers. My job is to try out different settings, feel them – and give the team the best feedback.
The last time I drove a real car in Mugello. It was last year’s car. Driving a Formula 1 car is always a pleasure. We did a lot of aerodynamic tests, tried different settings. The team was satisfied with my performance and the stability of the results. I think I’m ready to participate in free races!
