With six races before the end of the season, Mercedes is 35 points behind Ferrari in the battle for second place in the Constructors’ Championship. Team leader Toto Wolff believes that the battle with the Scuderia is not over and that Mercedes has a chance to succeed.
Toto Wolff: “I believe the battle is not over yet. We have to keep doing our best every weekend and at the end of the season we will see if we can get second place.
We are angry that we are thirty seconds behind the leader at the end of the race – it is necessary to regain such a gap. Second place in the Constructors’ Championship is a good motivator for the team, but we are already focusing on preparing for next year.
In theory the Singapore circuit would suit us, but if you remember the other city circuits we did this year, Monaco and Azerbaijan, our car didn’t look very good on the bumps. Therefore, we are not sure how we will perform in the next phase. However, the team will continue to attack and improve the car. I’m glad we now know which direction to go.
