In Formula 3, unhappy with the end of the season

Six drivers competed for the title for the final race of the Formula 3 season at Monza. The Sunday morning race was planned to consist of 22 laps, but due to the accident of Cush Maini and Brad Benavidez, the final protocol was drawn up following the results of the fifteenth lap.

In addition, the teams and riders had to wait for some time before the stewards faced numerous fines and the name of the champion, Victor Marten, became known.

The head of the youth series, Bruno Michel, admitted that the end of the season turned out to be hazy.

“It’s not good when the season ends like this,” Race fans quoted Michel as saying. – We had a great fight, in which all the contenders for the title took part, but there was a serious accident. I was happy that the FIA stopped the race with red flags because I thought it would resume after some time and we would end the season properly. Unfortunately this did not happen.

The best solution would be to shorten the Formula 2 race, since the champion’s name was already known the day before, and finish the race in Formula 3. Unfortunately, if you race Formula 1 in the same weekend and such a tight schedule, there are always risks and we can’t do anything about that. It may have been possible to start the Formula 3 race a little earlier, but this would lead to additional problems with the organization.

Unfortunately, things got even more complicated with last minute fines when no one knew what was going on. All this led to a certain disappointment from the teams and riders – this is not good enough. However, the race management also has a difficult task – it was very difficult to make decisions in a very short time.

I would have preferred the season to have ended differently. It took some time to understand who became the champion. There is nothing good that everyone had to wait for.”
