Nick de Vries replaces Pierre Gasly in AlphaTauri?

More and more European sources are writing that Red Bull has made a very unexpected move and bet on Nick de Vries, so there is a good chance that the Dutchman will replace Pierre Gasly in AlphaTauri. Last year, the Mercedes Formula E champion and reserve driver caught the eye when he had the chance to prove himself behind the wheel of a Williams.

Nick had a great Italian Grand Prix, finishing 9th and scoring points in his debut F1 race, and yesterday we wrote that he was spotted in the office of Helmut Marko, Red Bull motorsport adviser, in the Austrian city of Graz.

But even if they have reached an agreement in principle, it does not mean that the parties are ready to sign a contract. The successful implementation of Dr. Marco is possible under one mandatory condition: if it is possible to reach an agreement with Alpine on a financial compensation for the release of Gasly from obligations to Red Bull, since the Frenchman has a valid contract, according to which he must perform AlphaTauri in 2023.

“The negotiations with Alpine are difficult,” Marcos quotes Autobild.

Nick de Vries has in any case been invited for the tests that Alpine F1 is organizing at the Hungaroring next week. Colton Herta was initially supposed to participate but he does not have a super license and the FIA is unwilling to make an exception for the California driver as they do not believe this whole story can be classified as force majeure.

Red Bull therefore lost its interest in the American and switched to de Vries. But the situation is curious: different teams need a good driver, so depending on the further development of the events, Nick de Vries could try on AlphaTauri or Williams’ uniform next year (if they decide to give up the millions that Nicholas Latifi’s sponsors bring she), or Alpine.

Lewis Hamilton is one of those who are convinced that Nick deserves a place in Formula 1.

“Nick is very talented. I know him from when he was very young, said the Mercedes driver. – When I was driving for McLaren, my father tried to help him get into Formula 1.

Now he is very important to our team – he always has a positive attitude and he works a lot on the simulator. Nick of course deserves a place in one of the championship teams.
