This weekend Goodwood Revival takes place at Goodwood, an autumn festival dedicated to the history of motorsport and its traditions. In 2022 it will be 60 years since Graham Hill won his first title and we talked about the fact that his son Damon Hill, also world champion, is taking part in the festival. An important part of the festival program is devoted to this anniversary date.
But Goodwood is also celebrating another historic event: the Ferrari brand’s 75th anniversary. On March 12, 1947, Enzo Ferrari personally drove out of the gates of a small factory in Modena in a Ferrari 125, the first car to bear his name.
Therefore, collectors, as well as museums of automotive antiquity, supplied Goodwood with dozens of unique cars produced at Maranello over various years and in various categories of motorsport. And all this equipment made several demonstration drives around the track, and behind the wheel of many cars were famous Formula 1 racers, including Sir Jackie Stewart, Gerhard Berger and Stefan Johansson.
“The best thing that can happen to a driver is to drive for Ferrari,” Berger said. – I was lucky enough to be in the Ferrari family and drive for the Scuderia in Formula 1 for six years. It was not always possible to achieve victories, but even working together with a legendary team is an unforgettable experience.
Even now I am very happy to come here, to this wonderful festival, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the brand with everyone and even do a few laps around the track. We know how much Ferrari fans love it, so I gladly accepted the invitation.
Can’t even remember the last time I was in Italy to pay for a drink myself! (laughs) When you’re a Ferrari driver, you’re usually greeted on the red carpet and always feel the love of the public – even after so many years.
Just a few days ago I was in Italy, looking at the Ferrari factory and, as always, was invited to have dinner. They always remember everyone who played for the Scuderia, so I repeat: if one day you became a Ferrari driver, this is forever!
