Aston Martin not thinking of breaking up with Vettel

Yesterday we quoted Tom McCullough, sporting director of Aston Martin F1, who denied all suggestions that Sebastian Vettel’s work attitude could change after the four-time world champion announced his impending resignation.

Silverstone team principal Mike Krak agrees with McCullough, and while Vettel has not been able to score points in every Grand Prix, he believes there are races ahead at circuits more suited to the AMR22, so there is still room for improvement .

“We don’t think this is some kind of ‘farewell tour,’ we don’t think this is the last year of our collaboration and we’re doing this or that for the last time,” Krak said. RacingNews365.com. “Of course we will celebrate our farewell in Abu Dhabi, but until now we have no idea that we will travel the world together for the last time.”

Krak stressed that the Marina Bay urban circuit, which requires a higher level of downforce compared to the same Monza, should be better suited to the Aston Martin car, and Sebastian won five of his 53 wins in Singapore after all.

“I think there are a few races ahead on tracks where our car will be more competitive, and in theory we will be able to compete for the final of qualifying there,” said Krak. “So we have the potential, and I think that’s encouraging.

In Singapore he has always been excellent, so we are hopeful that we will get good results together in the remaining races.”

Before the Hungarian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel announced his decision to end his career and Aston Martin immediately signed a contract with Fernando Alonso, who will become Lance Stroll’s new partner next year.

The 2022 championship is not going well for Sebastian, he managed to earn points in just six of the 14 stages he took part in and now occupies the 13th line of the personal standings. It is possible that this will be the one season in Vettel’s very long career where he will never be on the podium.
