Jos Verstappen seems to want his son to secure a second league title early on, although he says he doesn’t care much in which phase of the season this happens.
“Fortunately, Max is well ahead of everyone on points and the prospects look very good, but the title has yet to be won,” RacingNews365 quotes Yos. “Of course I’m going to Singapore and depending on how it goes I might fly with Max to Japan.”
The Red Bull Racing car is so fast and Max drives so well, that even if he starts from outside the top ten, he manages to win – this was the case in Belgium, for example, where he started the race from a distant 14th position.
“It means that the car is capable of a high pace during the races. But if Max can start from the front row in Singapore, it just makes it easier for him,” continues Verstappen Sr. “But when exactly he wins the championship is not so important to me. The important thing is that it must be done. Of course Max leads by a wide margin, but one thing is important to me: that he becomes champion.
