A photo surfaced online on Sunday evening that has evoked nostalgia among longtime motorsport fans: it shows two veterans in Ferrari uniform, Giancarlo Fisichella and Rubens Barrichello, who are genuinely delighted at some success.
Giancarlo accompanied the photo with the following caption: “Together with my friend Rubens, we achieved a glorious victory! Thanks to the Scederia Baldini team for the great work and to the fans for the incredible support!”
The photo captured a truly rare moment, as last weekend Barrichello returned to Ferrari for the first time in 17 years – since, after the 2005 season, to the Honda factory team.
As for Fisichella, after the end of his Formula 1 career, the Italian continued to work with the Maranello team and achieved significant success in GT and endurance races. And here’s another win, and this time he won it in the same squad with 50-year-old Rubens.
They took part in the Italian GT Championship at Vallelunga in Scuderia Baldini’s Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo and won the race on Sunday. Strictly speaking, Barrichello had a chance to adapt to the car and the track over the summer, when he worked on tests with his son Edoardo.
By the way, this is not the first experience for Fabio Baldini’s team to invite the stars of recent years: in 2019, Fisichella already raced in the same team with Jacques Villeneuve, the 2007 world champion.
