On the eve of the Miami Grand Prix, Sergio Perez commented on the team’s results in the first races of the season. According to the Red Bull Racing driver, the start of the championship did not go as expected due to reliability problems, but the team will gradually bounce back.
Sergio Perez: “The start of the season did not go as the team expected. We were competitive, but the reliability left a lot to be desired. In the first three races we had too many retirements. However, there are still many stages ahead of us and we believe we will be able to pay for ourselves.
It’s very important, not just for me, but for the whole team to stay motivated throughout the season. If in the fifteenth stage it turns out that we are not pretending anything, the season will seem very long. However, we work with full dedication and guarantee that the team will occupy high positions.”
Sergio Perez’s contract with Red Bull Racing expires at the end of the season. The Mexican driver says he is not bothered by this: “I am focused on my work and enjoy it. This is my priority.
I’ve been racing in Formula 1 for many years and I think at some stage in your career you prioritize other things. For example, to enjoy what you do.”
Speaking about the Miami Grand Prix, Sergio expressed his hope for the support of the fans: “It’s great that the race is close to home. I am happy that the number of stages in the US is increasing. If this continues I may at some point return to live in Mexico!
We get great support and the fans are full of enthusiasm. Interest in Formula 1 is growing across America. I think not only will there be a lot of American fans in the stands in Miami, but also Mexican fans.”
