Williams driver Alex Albon gave an interview to the local Miami New Times before the weekend in Miami, but he didn’t just have to answer questions about racing topics†
Q: What is your worst part of the fitness training program?
Alex Albon: Interval workout. And worst of all – walking uphill. Try it for yourself and you will understand that there is little joy in this. It’s literally starting to annoy me.
Q: If you had a tattoo, what would it be and why?
Alex Albon: I have no tattoos. I don’t know what it could be. Maybe something funny. Maybe a silhouette of a dog? No, cats are better. Yes, that’s right, cats.
Q: Do you collect anything?
Alex Albon: New. If I have to talk about my hobby, it is a very ordinary one: photography. I love taking pictures.
Q: If you had the opportunity to do anything other than racing, what would you love to do?
Alex Albon: I would like to become an architect. I would have no objection to such a profession, because it seems to me that I have a creative streak.
Q: When you attend the Formula 1 drivers’ briefings, do you complain there most often or do you try to reconcile everyone? Or maybe you’re watching from the side what happens?
Alex Albon: Sure, I’m watching from the sidelines. We always have people who like to talk during such briefings, but I really want to get out of there as soon as possible.
Q: Which of the eras in Formula 1 history do you find most interesting: the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s?
Alex Albon: I think the 90s, because by then motorsport had become a much safer business. I suppose those machines weren’t completely safe yet, but they were already better than previous generations’ equipment. In addition, I prefer the 90s, also because at that time the aerodynamics of the cars had already become more efficient and it became more interesting to race.
Plus, they paid good money in the 90s!
Q: When you travel by car, what do you drive and who do you take with you?
Alex Albon: If you have a long trip then I would rather have a large SUV. I drive a Mercedes GLE so it must be something in the same class. But if the itinerary is shorter, I would go for the Porsche in the version of the American tuning studio Singer. I would take my boyfriend on a trip if she wanted to.
Q: What do you think, if your colleagues were asked to describe you in three words, what would those words be?
Alex Albon: “Serious but relaxed.” When I relax, I rest, it means I rest. When I’m serious, I’m serious. Otherwise I think I’m just a nice guy.
Q: Is there anything you are afraid of?
Alex Albon: I don’t like rats. When I go jogging in Milton Keynes I sometimes see rats by the lake. It makes me furious. I’m also afraid of heights, so I don’t like climbing mountains and stuff. I do not like it. However, I have nothing against flying in small planes, because I trust technology and technology more than my own legs.
