During pre-season testing in Bahrain, McLaren had problems with the new car’s brakes overheating, which required significant resources and strength due to the approaching season start. Team leader Andreas Seidl said in Monza that the consequences of this problem are still being felt…
Andreas Seidl: “Problems in the tests really hurt us. I had to use a lot of resources to solve them, which I would rather invest in increasing speed and efficiency, especially at the beginning of the season.
We made significant progress in areas where we were inferior last year, but overall we were less competitive than in the last two seasons. But still, this year we started a lot from scratch. And the problems with the brakes in the Bahrain tests put us right behind in terms of results. We weren’t where we wanted to be, but as the season progressed, the team showed their will and managed to come back.”
