After two races of the season, George Russell is fourth in the drivers’ standings, 23 points behind leader Charles Leclerc. The Mercedes driver believes that if the team does not improve in the coming races, the battle for the title could be forgotten.
George Russell: Two races behind us and we are definitely not where we should be. If the team doesn’t improve, we can’t fight for the title.
After two stages, our car is the third fastest, but we are not giving up. I don’t know how the situation will develop in the championship, but if we continue to show such results in the next five, six, seven or eight races, we will still keep our rivals within reach.
There is no reason to believe that we cannot change the situation in our favor. Let’s see what the balance of power will be in the middle of the season – it could still change.
