Next season will be the longest calendar in Formula 1 history, consisting of 24 stages. However, the number of circuits that want to host the Grand Prix is constantly growing.
Spanish publication Autopista writes that representatives of the Jarama circuit attended the Italian Grand Prix and met Formula 1 head Stefano Domenicali, giving him the so-called “letter of intent”. In other words, we have taken the first step to submit a formal application to host a Formula 1 round.
The possible timing of the Jarama stage is not said, but another Spanish circuit in Barcelona has a valid contract until 2026.
The Jarama circuit is located 30 kilometers from Madrid and has hosted Formula 1 races nine times from 1968 to 1981. The racing ring was designed by Hans John Hugenholz, who also designed circuits in Zandvoort and Suzuka.
