On Sunday, September 25, the third round of the Russian endurance racing series Russian Endurance Challenge (REC) will take place at Moscow Raceway. The four-hour marathon starts at 3 p.m. and involves twenty-six crews.
In total, in the third phase of the season, 40 teams and more than a hundred riders have registered to compete in the REC, which competes in five classes: CN Sport Prototype, CN 1.6 Sport Prototype, GT Pro, GT and GT Light.
The general list of REC 2022 participants includes such prominent pilots as Roman Rusinov, Daniil Kvyat, Vitaly Petrov, Mikhail Alyoshin, Sergey Sirotkin, Alexei Dudukalo, Alexei Basov and others.
In REC, racers compete on various vehicles – Mercedes AMG GT3, Mercedes AMG GT4, BMW M4 GT4, Toyota Supra GT4, Porsche Cayman GT4, Russian Marussia B1 GT car and BR03 BR Engineering sports prototypes, Moscow Poly FENIX prototypes, DK Racing SHORTCUT prototypes and on other national ring motorsport machines.
The main intrigue is expected in the general classification, where the battle for the traditional cup will be between teams from different classes. With the introduction of new drivers and vehicles, the third stage peloton is so unpredictable that there can be unexpected turns in the race.
For the first time, more than four crews in Porsche Cayman GT cars will appear at the start of the Russian endurance racing series, making it possible to organize a separate classification for them.
Crews 11 and 17 will not participate in the third leg of the Russian series of endurance races on the BR03 sports prototypes of the Russian production BR Engineering. Not all registered teams will participate in every REC round for various reasons, but the organizers hope to see the drivers from SMP Racing and BR03 at the start of the final round of the VTB REC SOCHI AVTODROM 4h on October 23.
As part of the third stage, the Moscow Region Regional Championship will traditionally be played, which will allow athletes to receive ranks and titles.
Igor Ermilin, organizer of REC: “Our series is making significant progress this year. This is evident from the number of registrations halfway through the season. We are getting a lot of positive feedback from the teams and statements of intent to join REC from new potential members.”
You can watch the race on September 25 at the Moscow Raceway not only from the stands of the autodrome (spectator admission is free), but also on a television broadcast on the Start TV channel, as well as in the ROSGONKI community.
