Nicholas Latifi crashed his car twice during the Jeddah stage – in qualifying and in the race. The Williams driver cited a balance problem as the reason for leaving the track and admitted that the start of the season was not what the team had hoped for.
Nicholas Latifi: “Of course I am disappointed. We didn’t start the season the way we wanted – we didn’t expect such results. The car lacks downforce, the balance is far from ideal – because of this I have problems. When I crashed the car in the race, I was on the same track as all weekend, so the start was unexpected.
The rear of the FW44 behaves unpredictably, the car has problems with balance – these are our conclusions on the car at the moment. On the other hand, my job as a rider is to get the most out of the technology we have at our disposal.
I ran into a wall twice this weekend, which I didn’t expect from myself at all, given my current level. It’s hard for me, but I have to forget what happened and move on. I apologize to the team for any damage I caused this weekend.
At the time of departure I did not fight with anyone, but the car was still difficult to drive. Like I said, this is my job and you have to understand what to add to it.
