Historically, Formula 1’s business has consisted of payments from promoters to hold stages and sell television rights. But next year, Formula 1 itself will be the promoter of the Las Vegas Grand Prix – and in Miami, the world championship leaders said this approach could be expanded.
Greg MaffeicLiberty Media CEO: “Let’s see how things are going in Las Vegas. We hope to succeed, and then we’ll think about how to move forward. Maybe we’ll be promoters of even more stages. I wouldn’t turn down that opportunity. “
Stefano Domenicalic, Executive Director of Formula 1: “Each new promoter adds new strengths and capabilities to our system. This also affects the promoters of the traditional Grand Prix, whom we treat with great respect. They actively work with us and do everything they can to make the most of their stage. This synergy allows us to get the most out of our efforts.
But I agree with Greg – “never say never”, but I want to emphasize it again – we are very happy with the promoters who work with us. These are very loyal, reliable partners, with whom we are building an even stronger future together.”
