Horner suggests changing DRS detection points

The appearance in Formula 1 of the DRS system was a forced step, which could increase the number of overtakings under the previous regulations.

The new regulations were intended to make it easier for drivers to fight for position at the expense of the car’s aerodynamics, but DRS remained – and two races in a row in the battle for leadership we saw a game of “cat” and mouse” in the DRS zones.

Such a fight looks very spectacular, but somewhat contradicts the essence of the sport, when the racers slow down in front of the detection zone to find out and then attack with DRS.

It is not possible to change the current regulations during the season if it is not related to safety, but the head of Red Bull Racing Christian Horner is proposing to change the location of the DRS detection points to have this effect on to lift.

Christian Horner: “The DRS system is so powerful that riders will play cat-and-mouse as they slow down before the detection point to find themselves [менее чем в секунде] behind and accelerate before the bend.

I think it is worth reviewing the location of the detection points to avoid such situations in the future.”
