Mario Andretti: We’re not giving up

Mario Andretti said preparations for the Andretti Global project are still underway, although the application submitted to the FIA ​​to participate in the 2024 World Championship is still unanswered, and a number of key people in the paddock speak out against the appearance of an eleventh team in Formula 1.

At the beginning of the year, Michael Andretti and his father, the 1978 world champion, announced plans to create a new team, but opinions differ on that. If the leaders of McLaren and Alpine support these plans, the head of the Mercedes works team, Toto Wolff, and Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali have been very skeptical.

However, the Andretti clan is not discouraged.

“We are working daily on this project with the intention of launching in 2024,” said Mario Andretti in an interview with PlanetF1. We are preparing as if our application has already been approved. It’s all Michael, so we’re not giving up, that’s for sure. For us this is a very serious project and we are ready to make all necessary investments.

Frankly, the response to our project is very frustrating. At the same time, we just try to do everything that is asked of us, try to meet all the requirements – I don’t know what else we can do.

I believe that our project will be useful for Formula 1. We have the most serious intentions to be part of this championship, we want to come there for a long time and we can guarantee it. When you decide on such a large investment, it says something.

The size of the investment is large by any company’s standards, so expect to be welcomed. But we still have to fight, we try to answer all the questions that are put to us. But that’s all we can do.”
