Sebastian Vettel, like his partner, could have made it to the qualifying final in Miami, but a mistake in the decisive attempt in the second session prevented him.
Sebastian Vettel (13th): “I thought our car would be faster today, so I’m angry that I dropped out in the second qualifying session. But on my last attempt in the last sector, the car jerked sideways a little when I looked at the display to see the lap time, and because of this I didn’t qualify for the final.
It looks like the car can get good speeds on this track, but the most important day of the race weekend is Sunday and I hope we can get some points.”
Lance Walk (10th): “I think we can be happy with the result. In the second part of qualifying I was able to put in a good lap, which allowed me to reach the final, but I am not completely satisfied with my lap in the third session. The last sector could have been better.
But starting from 10th position gives a good chance to fight for points. Since the race is being held at this track for the first time, in such cases there can always be many factors that will influence the course, but there must also be some opportunities. After all the bright emotions that come with preparing for this race, I feel like I’m fully prepared for the upcoming Grand Prix.
Mike KrakTeam Principal: “It’s great to have a Formula 1 race in Miami and we were happy with the good performance in qualifying.
Lance had a great lap in the second session and managed to qualify for the final but then he didn’t improve so he starts the race from 10th position. I think you can say that over the weekend in Miami we made some progress in resolving the issues that affected the car’s behaviour.
Sebastian also showed good pace, but on his best lap in the second session, he made a mistake in the chicane that prevented him from making it to the final. However, we are optimistic about tomorrow’s race, which promises to be long and hot. We are looking forward to fighting for the points.”
