Haas drivers Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen qualified 15th and 16th respectively in Miami. Mick explained his result saying he couldn’t put a new set of tires on it and Kevin’s radio didn’t work and he couldn’t coordinate with the team.
Mick Schumacher (15th): “We hoped to make it to the final, but the car didn’t have enough speed. However, I’m glad I made the right decisions at the right time, but I couldn’t improve on the new set of tyres.
The track is quite difficult in many ways, so mistakes are possible, but as long as we manage to avoid them, everything is fine.”
Kevin Magnussen (16th): “We have a crazy race ahead of us, and I hope we can bounce back. The car drives well, but my radio didn’t work during qualifying, so I couldn’t communicate with the team. As a result, in the first session I did one long run instead of two short ones.
In any case, points are awarded at the end of the race. We’ll see what we can do with the strategy, but we have a good pace and I’m optimistic.”
Gunther Steiner, Team Principal: “After a successful training, we were unable to confirm the speed in qualifying and for various reasons we showed the 15th and 16th fastest times. Kevin’s radio wasn’t working, so we couldn’t execute the plan because we couldn’t communicate.
Mick went into the second part, but couldn’t put in a fast lap. I hope we can do something from our starting positions because Friday the car looked good on a long series of circles. Let’s wait for the race and see what we can do.”
