At Monza, Esteban Ocon interrupted his best run of five consecutive Grand Prix this season – and hopes to earn points again in Singapore…
Q: How do you evaluate the results of a series of three European Grand Prix in a row?
Esteban Ocon: The team has achieved good results and earned important points. The car was competitive, which was the result of hard work on the track and at the base. We have broken away from our closest rivals in the battle for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship and are confidently moving into the away games to achieve even better results.
Q: After three races in a row, you could rest a bit. What have you done?
Esteban Ocon: The schedule was tight. After the Monza race we had another promotion day on track, then I went to Enstone to work on the simulator and chat with the team.
I celebrated my birthday with family and friends, took a few days to relax after a busy weekend and practice prior to a tough race in Singapore.
Q: After a break of several years, we are returning to Marina Bay. What do you think of the race in Singapore?
Esteban Ocon: It’s great to be back on the track, which has been the main event of the season for many years. In terms of physical activity, this stage is one of the most difficult. A good physical condition is very important here.
Narrow and winding track, high temperature and humidity – this stage will be a serious test for cars and drivers. Here you need settings similar to Monaco and Hungary where high downforce becomes a key factor.
Singapore has a great atmosphere and racing at night always adds to the fun. I hope we do well and give the fans a good show.
