Ovechkin is the 2018 Stanley Cup winner. Three-time world champion (2008, 2012, 2014).
He started his professional career at Dynamo Moscow at the age of 16. In the 2004 draft, he was selected by the “Washington” under the first general number. He spent 16 seasons in the American club, in 2010 he became its captain. In January 2008, he signed a 13-year, $124 million contract with the Washington Capitals, becoming the first hockey player to sign a contract worth over $100 million.
