Shesterkin said he was more fluent in English

Russian Goaltender, New York Rangers Igor Shesterkin said he had learned English well and could now give interviews in the United States without an interpreter.

– After last season, I became more free and, if I don’t know the words, I can say something stupid. Now I can talk more. I have become more comfortable. I feel more comfortable with each player on the team, – Shesterkin is quoted by the official NHL website.

Additionally, the 26-year-old Russian shared his feelings of fatherhood. In August, Shesterkin had a son, whose name was Timofey.

“I just want to watch it 24/7. It’s nice when you have a kid and a dog, you can walk around with a stroller and the dog can run around,” Shesterkin said.

At the end of last season, Shesterkin was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the season. In the regular season, he played 53 games in which his team recorded 36 wins (the Russian had 6 games to nil), with a reliability coefficient of 2.07 and 93.5% shots returned.

Rangers lost 2–4 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup semifinals. Shesterkin conceded 51 goals in 20 playoff games.
