The National Federation made a tough decision regarding the athletes from the aggressor countries.

Russian and Belarusian athletes will no longer participate in the championship of Ukrainian ice hockey. This decision was made by the national federation, which banned athletes from the aggressor countries from playing in our country.

It should be noted that 16 of the 23 members of the Council took part in the meeting of the Council of the Hockey Federation of Ukraine dedicated to this issue. the main issue under consideration is precisely the ban on the participation in the tournament of the representatives of the aggressor countries – Russia and Belarus. However, the participants did not dispute it, the decision was made unanimously.

Thus, FHU was the first of the sports national federations of Ukraine that officially removed athletes from the aggressor countries from participating in the national championship.

Recall that last season 44 Russians and 6 Belarusians participated in the Ukrainian hockey championship (Kremenchug – 14 Russian hockey players, Kharkiv Berserkers – 13, and Sokol Kyiv – 11). That is, Russian players are almost half of the composition of these three teams.

It can be recalled that earlier the IIHF officially suspended the Russians and Belarusians from the 2023 Ice Hockey World Cup.
