Roman Rotenberg – on the KHL match with Spartak: “The game task was fulfilled better than against CSKA”

Head Coach S.K.A. Romain Rotenberg said that the hockey players of the St. Petersburg club in the KHL match with Moscow “Spartacus performed the game task better than in the previous meeting with CSKA from the capital.

SKA beat Spartak on the road with a score of 5:1 on Wednesday. The match with CSKA ended with the victory of the St. Petersburg team in extra time.

– We understood that Spartak defended very well. This was taken into account during the preparation for the match. We also took into account the mistakes made with CSKA. We corrected them, dismantled them. And the guys are great, they finished setting up for the game. We won, although mistakes remained – we didn’t score in the majority, but we will keep working,” Rothenberg told reporters.

– Is it difficult to motivate the players after the game the day before yesterday against CSKA?

– Every game is important and Spartak are a tough opponent. We spoke with the players, discussed the game. We need to improve the details and we are constantly working on it. I am happy that the game task was better executed than with CSKA. Drawn from their own emotions, despite the busy schedule.

– Marat Khusnutdinov was announced as the 13th striker, and during the match he found himself on the front line. Why didn’t they just put it there?

– We always look at the reserves, and Marat added emotions, energy. We’ve found the optimal combination for him, and the storyline changes as the game progresses. At the same time, our principle is that we do not celebrate individual players, but the work of the whole team.
