Athletistic/Hockey. Striker Alexander Popov has retired as a hockey player, but will continue to work in the CSKA system as a player development coach, the club’s press service informs.
His duties will include working with hockey players from all three teams in the club system – CSKA, Zvezda and Red Army. The contract with 42-year-old Popov has already been signed.
The forward has been playing for CSKA since the 2016/17 season. As part of the army club, he played 315 games in which he scored 133 (43 + 90) points.
