Head Coach “Neftekhimika” Oleg Leontiev after meeting S.K.A. congratulated the St. Petersburg striker Marat Khairullin who previously played for the Nizhnekamsk club.
On Wednesday, SKA St. Petersburg overcame Neftekhimik (3:1) in the Fonbet home match of the KHL Championship.
“Marat Khairullin has no weaknesses. I am proud that he reached such a level, he was invited to a prominent club. Personally, we didn’t agree against Marat, we agreed against SKA. I would really like him to play in the NHL. There is very strong competition, everything is tough. No one can say whether he will play there or not. Marat is a smart guy. I am 99% sure that he can pull it off,” Leontiev said.
SKA exchanged the rights to Neftekhimik’s top scorer Khairullin in May, the Nizhnekamsk team received monetary compensation. During the last KHL season, the 25-year-old scored 32 (17+15) points in 46 regular season games.
