Goalkeeper Columbus Blue Jackets Daniil Tarasov says he was happy to play against the club Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL regular season game, because the place at the gates of “lightning” is Andrei Vasilevsky.
Columbus and Tampa met on October 15, Vasilevsky’s team won the match – 5: 2.
– Growing up in the profession and dreaming only of the NHL, which goaltender did you most want to play against?
– I really wanted to play against Vasilevsky’s Tampa. After all, we are only one Ufa school. They grew up in the same place. Also, my first coach was his father Andrey Leonidovich, and when my father (goalkeeper Vadim Tarasov) became the goalkeeper coach of Salavat, Andryukha was just starting out at the KHL level. That’s the kind of connection we have. It is clear that my father often gave me the example of his way of working. Behind his growth there is only colossal work, – Tarasov is quoted by RB Sport.
– Did you greet each other in one way or another, especially on the ice?
– They hit pancakes as they drove to their stores after the second period. It’s cool that we are two goalkeepers from the same school in Ufa. Sure, we’re not great friends, but we communicate when possible.
Do you know any other Russian goalkeepers?
– I get to know myself gradually. Right now in New York we spoke with Panarin and Shesterkin. Before that, I saw the guys from St. Louis. Here, it’s easier for me in the sense that there is Le Havre in the team, which knows ours very well. I know someone, and through him I get to know the rest.
Tarasov played five games with Columbus this NHL season and helped the team to a victory.
