Moscow Coach CSKA Sergei Fedorov explained why the Army team went to the KHL regular season game against “Sochi” in a truncated composition.
On Sunday, CSKA defeated Sochi 6-0 in the Fonbet KHL Championship away match. The Rouge-Bleu have won 10 straight and are second in the Western Conference standings.
– For our team, the game developed, we were seriously preparing for the opponent. We understood that under the leadership of the new coach, Sochi played enthusiastically, actively, quickly. Therefore, we ourselves had to play good hockey, according to the schemes that the guys are familiar with, ”said Fedorov.
– Why were there only three full fives for this game?
– We have several VHL guys, a few main team players have returned from injuries. We wanted to give them more time. The next match will be with a serious opponent – in Kazan. Therefore, we’re trying to get these guys into the state we want to see them in quickly. They were given the opportunity to “suffocate” today, to play shorter quarters. It is a sporting and tactical process.
– Young goalie Vsevolod Skotnikov designed the KHL’s first cracker. How was he praised?
– They gave him a puck with a commemorative inscription. I’m very happy for the goalkeeper, he helped us more than once.
– Can you summarize the October results?
— We don’t live by the schedule, but I will say that in the next 20 games we have to take a serious step forward – to play consistently and reliably, for the result.
