Russian coach Andrei Nazarov proposed to increase the number of regular season games of the Fonbet Championship KHL and reduce the number of pre-season tournament games.
This season, each team will play 68 regular season games.
– I read with interest the speech of the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Tretyak. Vladislav Alexandrovich says that not all wives will let their man go to hockey when his favorite team plays four or five games in a row, and our league is not yet used to such a pace of games.
In my opinion, as a coach with 15 years of experience, the current number of regular season games in the KHL is quite acceptable. Also, I would increase the number of meetings to 70-75. A hockey player only grows when he plays. In this regard, you can see how and how much they play in the NHL. Maybe our hockey tickets are too expensive? This question must also be considered. I would not relegate the economic component of the country to the background, although Vladislav Alexandrovitch is the president of the FHR and his word carries weight.
But in the pre-season tournaments we have a clear list of matches. This is where you need to reduce the number of games. We have too many exhibition meetings that have no tournament value. It is possible, under conditions, instead of 10 pre-season matches to play five, and the remaining five to be transferred to the regular season. And we are entering 73 games, which is a significant indicator of the growth of all hockey in Russia as a whole. Don’t forget, there will be playoffs after this. What is needed are official games in which a person will fight, show his best qualities. Then we will see his professional growth, – quotes the words of Nazarov “Championship”.
At the end of October, Nazarov left the position of head coach of HC Sochi, the team was led by Sergey Svetlov.
