Nizhny Novgorod coach “Torpedo” Igor Larionov believes that the referees influenced the course of several episodes of the Fonbet Championship regular season game KHL against Kazan “Ak Barsa” .
On Thursday, Torpedo beat Ak Bars at home with a score of 6:4. Kazan scored two goals in the majority in the 5v3 game, Larionov’s team was fined for violating team strength.
– It is very pleasant that with such an audience the team managed to show very brilliant hockey. It’s still far from ideal, but the illustration of a good game was demonstrated today.
– What importance did you attach to this match? Ak Bars wanted to deprive your team of pucks and space.
That’s what they said? We had the same project. We understand that the team is experienced, there are many masters. Everyone wants the puck back. We don’t have such brilliant and experienced players. But nevertheless, the task was to play exactly like the first number, with control of the puck, to dominate the entire court. We did it in the first two periods. In the third period “Ak Bars” added speed, experience, caused a lot of problems in our area.
– Why did Torpedo catch three fouls at once for a numerical strength violation?
— We watched the first two moments. Spoke with the referees. I asked them to take a closer look. In such matches, the actors are the players. They are not judges. And when you play 4 on 5 in the offensive zone and the person who changes is absent from the game, do you give a suspension for that? My hand does not rise. This is not what we want. We don’t see the problems where they are.
The third deletion was, of course, obvious. But the first two… I don’t want to complain, but in such moments I’m surprised that we played three times in the minority, and “3 against 5”. And those deletions just led to uneven lineups. When you start watching a replay video, you understand: yes, there is a letter of the law. But there are always rules of the game. The referee must not influence the outcome of this or that episode! And it was,” Larionov told reporters.
Torpedo is fourth in the West standings with 37 points.
