Youth team head coach Russia (U20) Vladimir Filatov in a conversation with reporters after the League of Stakes Cup of the Future tournament match with Kazakhstan, he said that the teamwork of hockey players was suffering due to a broken schedule.
The meeting ended with the victory of the Russian team with the score 6:1.
“Today I expected more from our team,” Filatov said. – We didn’t implement everything we had planned and trained during the match. I want to note the positional play of the national team of Kazakhstan. The boys played very selflessly. We blocked a lot of shots, competent actions, didn’t allow the puck to reach the goal.
– And what did you expect from the Russian team? What was wrong?
— I was expecting more team action. Yet today the game is reduced to a large number of individual actions. Some of them were positive, and some were redundant. But we always aim our team to play combination team hockey, and the puck wouldn’t stay long with one player, so everyone is open to each other.
Unfortunately, today we played more one by one. So we will adjust our game.
– Is it affected by the fact that the calendar is broken and the Russian team does not participate in the usual tournaments they have played since August?
– Maybe you’re right. Teamwork, of course, suffers. I would like to gather more often, to compete on the international stage. On the other hand, I am very happy that we now have the opportunity to play for the national team, to please the fans. It’s good that there is such a tournament.
