Slovak national team coach says he can’t blame hockey players in Russia

Head Coach Slovakia national team hockey Craig Ramsey stated that it includes players who play for clubs in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) due to financially profitable contracts.

In early September, the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation announced that KHL players would continue to be called up to the national team, despite the situation in Ukraine. Stanley Cup winner Michal Handzus subsequently left the executive committee of the federation in disagreement with this decision.

“For me, this is a difficult subject. I am not a politician, but a hockey player. I believe our hockey players do what they consider to be best for themselves. I would never blame them for wanting to make money and get through the hard times we are going through today.

I have been through a lot. I can only tell the players what they are doing on the ice. I am responsible for how the team I have in the tournament plays. I wish you all the best, – quote the words of Ramsey cas.sk .

Earlier, the ice hockey federations of the Czech Republic and Sweden announced that KHL players would not be called up to the countries’ national teams.
