Ovechkin has been with the Capitals since 2005. He is currently the league’s all-time leader in goals scored for a single team and is third on the NHL’s regular season goalscoring list with 788, behind only Gordie Howe (801) and Wayne Gretzky (894).
– You yourself understand what Ovechkin did for Washington and for hockey in the city in general. When we arrived at the club, it was devastation in a hockey sense. The team hasn’t played as well as it has in the last 10-15 years.
