– I personally knew a great player, the legend is gone. Very sorry, bright memory. He was a player who knew how to score and represent our Soviet hockey in world sports arenas. Martynyuk made a great contribution to Soviet hockey. He forever went down in history not only because of his records, but also stood out for his unique game.
Martynyuk will forever remain in our hearts. The bottom line is that young people know and remember him, and his stories live on in the world of hockey,” RBC Sport Kamensky quoted.
Martyniuk took part in the 1972 Super Series against Team Canada. Thanks to his two victories at the world championships, he became three times champion of the USSR.
