On Friday, Spartak lost to CSKA in the home match of the KHL Fonbet Championship (2:4). At this match, an attendance record for a hockey game in Moscow was set – 7563 spectators.
“The opponent was very serious and powerful,” Grishin said. “And our team today turned out to be less experienced. Vishnevsky is injured, Prince is ill… We calculated that today we had seven players in the roster who made their KHL debut this season. This is not an excuse. I just want to say that the guys fought, but the opponent was stronger.
– It so happened that during the matches against CSKA, the gates of Spartak were constantly defended by Alexei Krasikov. Do you trust him, given that he takes courage in such encounters?
– Of course, we take into account both the character and the ambitions of Alexei. But today, according to the plan, he was supposed to play, because before that Ribar defended the goal in two matches. Krasikov played very well today. The outfield players should have helped him more.
– I noticed that after the match, you went to the stands and distributed pucks to the spectators. Have you had this tradition for a long time or did you start practicing it when you arrived in Spartak?
Who are we playing for? For these boys and their parents. If they demand attention from themselves, why not do it? I had the same thing in Voskresensk. There, the bleachers are even closer to the ice and it’s great. You pass, then you give the puck, then something else. We have to attract fans.
– Today one of the fans on the podium was the football coach “Spartak” Guillermo Abascal . What do you think of football in general?
– That’s what I’m looking at – the peasant has a familiar face, and they always show it on the cube. Precisely, it is Abascal, the coach of the Spartak football team.
– So you’re not very good at football?
– I really like football. But more – internationally. When our team prepares for the World Cup, that’s one thing. And then I turn on , and they say, “The World Cup is coming soon.” I had forgotten that it was postponed to winter. So I like football, but I like hockey more. Many people think that good football is better than good hockey. And I think it’s the other way around.
Spartak meet CSKA for the third time this season. In the first match, the army team won – 3:2 OT. In the second meeting, Spartak got revenge – 2: 1. In the third, the army team again won – 4:2. In all three derbies, Spartak had different main coaches – Boris Mironov, Alexei Zavarukhin and Igor Grishin.
