On Wednesday evening, November 30, the regular season of the KHL will take place a duel between CSKA of the capital and Omsk Avangard. The teams will face each other for the first time this season. CSKA Moscow currently occupies the second row in the Western Conference, but the “hawks” are only sixth in the East.
A little over a week ago, Sergei Fedorov’s team suffered a very unpleasant defeat in St. Petersburg, losing to their teammates with a score of 2:6. However, the failure in the game with the leader of the Western Conference and main competitor in the standings of the regular season did not destabilize the Army Men of Moscow. In the next two matches, CSKA beat Nizhny Novgorod’s “Torpedo” (4: 0) away from home, and also beat “Vityaz” (6: 4) on home ice. And although the capital club are 10 points behind SKA in the standings, the men of the Moscow army have played three matches less. In other words, in terms of points lost, the difference between the clubs is small and the fight for leadership in the Conference continues.
“Vanguard” in November scored a good hit. Compared to the start of the season, the Hawks have a 9-game winning streak. However, in the last three meetings, Mikhail Kravets’ side have lost several points. “Vanguard” lost on home ice to “Spartak” (1:3), and in Yaroslavl “Hawks” were beaten by “Locomotive” (2:3). Between these defeats, the Omsk team dominated Severstal (2-1) and is currently entrenched in the 6th line of the Eastern Conference.
Between them, CSKA and Avangard have not played official matches since January 3 this year. Then, at home, CSKA Moscow defeated the “hawks” with the score 3:2.
