Andrey Razin, head coach of Severstal Cherepovets, noted an unpleasant feature of his team this season – conceding goals while playing in the majority.
On Thursday, Severstal suffered an away loss to SKA in the KHL Fonbet Championship regular season game (3:4 OT). In the second half, SKA player Nikita Komarov scored a goal as his team played in 4×5 format.
– I think they didn’t spoil today’s hockey vacation. It’s a shame we made one more mistake. Stupid goal, but not the first this season. This year we have a disease – miss the majority. If they had said before the match that we would win the draw in regulation time, I would have been happy. We had a moment at the end of the game. It’s a shame they didn’t use it.
Statistically speaking, we play more in the opposing zone and don’t shoot less than our opponents, but for some reason the pucks are still flying into our goal. I don’t know how to explain the second objective. Such mistakes can only be called childish.
Samonov exposed (at the door)? We had no more options. Nikita Rozhkov? Honestly, I’ve barely seen it. I called my friend and colleague Alexander Golts and consulted. He said he really liked Nikita for her work at Metallurg. His agent did a good job pushing the transition. I’m glad to see him. Today he took a big step towards signing a full contract, Razin told reporters.
Severstal is ninth in the Western Conference standings with 36 points. In the next match, Razin’s team will meet Vityaz on December 3.
