Retired head coach “Ak Barsa” Oleg Znarok thanked the Kazan club, players and supporters.
On Friday, Ak Bars announced that Znarok had voluntarily left the post. Yuriy Babenko has been named interim head coach of Ak Bars. Coaches Alexander Boykov and Alexander Agopeev continue to work in the same status.
– I am grateful to Ak Bars for the opportunity to work in such a big club. Thank you to the fans who supported the team in every situation, to all the players, the staff and the management. I believe this team is capable of fighting for the top spots and I wish good luck to all hockey players on the roster. I will follow Ak Bars and encourage its success in the future,” said Znarok, quoted on the club’s website.
Znarok led Ak Bars in July. In the current KHL Fonbet Championship season, Kazan is in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.
