CEO “Tractor” Ivan Savine in an interview with , he spoke about the launch of the club’s academy and the problems that arise when retaining talented young players.
After 40 games, Traktor sits in tenth place with 35 points in the KHL’s Fonbet Championship Eastern Conference.
– Does the fight for promising youngsters continue in KHL clubs now?
– It’s a very tough fight. Now our main task is to keep our talented guys in the Traktor system. It’s easier in the youth team – all the players are already under contract there, and the club itself decides whether to let someone go or not. But in the sports school there are certain loopholes that our rivals use, treacherously luring our students to them.
But we fight it. We are now launching the Traktor Academy. It is a powerful structure that will be quite competitive with other hockey academies. And it will also help to keep the guys from Chelyabinsk in the club’s system. That is, we are not focusing on selecting, or training young players from other regions to us, but on the gradual development of our local guys, who in the future will become the basis of Traktor. And they will not only go on the ice in its composition, but will achieve maximum goals.
