CEO “Neftekhimika” Igor Larionov has admitted the club have decided to part ways with the French defender Yoann Ovityu on a sporting basis.
– Purely sporting principle, we had the most expensive defender. They gave us a chance to play, but he didn’t show the result we expected from him. We negotiated his trade with other clubs, waited for a response, but eventually parted ways with him under KHL rules.
Mutually, but paid, whatever is supposed to be. There was information that we didn’t fit in the budget, we paid more – that’s not true, everything is strictly according to KHL rules! Especially since I personally contacted the player’s agent. This farce is not his initiative! Larionov told Metaratings.ru.
Former Sochi hockey player Ovityu became a Neftekhimik player in early August, signing a one-year deal. As part of Nizhnekamsk, he played 20 games, scored one goal and made two assists.
