The youth team hockey player underwent emergency surgery in Surgut after being hit by a skate in the neck

The goalkeeper of the Chelyabinsk Meteor-Signal children’s and youth hockey team, injured in a match with the Olimpiets-2006 club, underwent emergency surgery in Surgut, Alexei Dobrovolsky, head of the health service of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, said on his Telegram channel.

The incident happened on Sunday. At one point in the match, an accident occurred when a player’s skate hit the visiting team’s goalkeeper in the neck. The doctors who were on duty during the game provided the athlete with emergency assistance on the ice. The player was rushed to the trauma center by the Surgut ambulance team.

“After the operation, the boy has a clear mind, his condition is stable, serious, treatment continues in the intensive care unit,” Dobrovolsky wrote.

The player’s name was not specified in the message.
