Head Coach S.K.A. Romain Rotenberg said that the St. Petersburg club is considering the possibility of holding Fonbet KHL Championship matches at the Gazprom Arena.
– Matches against CSKA and Spartak are coming. Have you thought about playing them at the Gazprom Arena?
We have discussed it, thought about it, but we have to prepare for it very seriously. It’s at least a year of preparation with all the consequences. It is necessary to gather full stalls, to ensure the quality of the ice cream. It’s a huge organizational job. I hope that in a year I can play at Gazprom Arena.
When we organized such matches, they became a wonderful event. Many thanks to PJSC Gazprom and personally to Alexey Borisovich Miller, who allowed us to organize these events when we set attendance records. Of course we want to play there again, but we have to prepare very well. Just as the team must be well prepared for the season.
Now we didn’t have enough time to organize these events at the highest level. We cannot make them worse than before. We can only do better. Therefore, they didn’t take any risks,” the club’s press service quoted Rotenberg as saying.
In the last KHL match, SKA defeated Vityaz with a score of 4:1. Rotenberg’s team won the seventh straight game and leads the Western Conference standings with 71 points.
