Yaroslavl coach Lokomotiv Igor Nikitin said that his team’s hockey players left a lot of emotions and strength in the last four home games of the Fonbet Championship KHL but were able to please the fans.
Lokomotiv beat Spartak 2:1 in their arena on Monday. As part of Lokomotiv, Stepan Nikulin scored twice (5, 46), the German Rubtsov (30) scored Spartak with the puck.
Previously, Lokomotiv had won at home against Sochi (2:1), Kazan Ak Bars (2:1) and CSKA Moscow (3:1). Lokomotiv suffered the last defeat at home against the Chinese Kunlun (0-1) on December 8.
– Happy New Year everyone ! I think the guys did their best – tough home games, but the fans were happy. We are preparing for the next game, tomorrow we will go to the exit.
– Did you feel that the team left a lot of emotions in the game against CSKA?
– Maybe: Kazan and CSKA took away their emotions, and Sochi’s nerves frayed. In principle, we rested for a few days, stayed at home, there was a team dinner. It’s great that Styopa (Nikulin) scored – goals help, give the right to make a mistake. We are happy for him, we try to put this burden on others too. It’s easier to play with goals, but you also have to be able to win such thin games, you look for the positive in such moments.
– How can you rate the game of Alexei Marchenko?
– I think it’s wrong to rate his game now – Alexei now has the task of getting fit. The man hasn’t played for almost a season. Many have been there, including myself as a player. You can only cross the game: no matter how hard you train, the speed is always different. We don’t bother with this topic, we pretty much understand what it will look like. Today, the partners have assured it a lot – that’s what collective sport is for, that everyone is able to help. Alexei will recover and will definitely help again,” Lokomotiv’s official website quoted the specialist as saying.
The Yaroslavl team won the fourth game in a row. In the next match, Lokomotiv will play away on December 28 against China’s Kunlun.
