Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin has passed Canadian Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby in the list of all-time leading scorers in the National Hockey League (NHL).
On Friday night, Washington lost to Ottawa at home with a score of 3:4 OT (0:0, 3:2, 0:1, 0:1). Ovechkin scored one of the goals.
The Russian scored 1452 (803+649) points in 1312 regular season NHL games. Crosby has 1,452 (536 assists 916) points in 1,143 games. The forwards are tied for 17th, five points behind Teemu Selanne (1,457 points in 1,451 games).
The leader is Wayne Gretzky, who has 2857 points in 1487 matches.
