Buffalo Buffalo forward Teige Thompson was named the NHL’s Most Game-Day Hockey Player.
The striker netted a hat-trick against Washington (5:4 OT), for which Russian Alexander Ovechkin scored a brace, taking his league marksman tally to 808 goals. The Capitals captain himself was not among the three stars of the day.
The NHL Press Service recognized Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk as the second star of the day – he repeated Thompson’s feat, earning 4 (3+1) points in the game with Arizona (5:3) .
Matthew Barzel, whose goal and two assists helped the New York Islanders beat Vancouver 6-2, rounded out Tuesday’s top three.
